Keep Jumping

Now that the warm weather is here, I have started running again. Don’t let that statement fool you, I am not a runner. I started running last summer trying to increase my cardio and to keep it up, I was riding on the bike trainer over the winter.

On my runs, I like to listen to audio books or pod casts to keep my mind distracted. Regardless of what I am listening to, there is one thought that consumes me during my runs. “Can I walk now”. As I mentioned I am not a runner, it is very much a chore for me.

However, I may be turning a corner. I want for a run yesterday and my legs felt “strong”. I don’t want to jinx myself, a part of my run felt easy and almost comfortable. Naturally, I wondered what could have brought about this change, and I have narrowed it down to three things:

    1. Consistency – I might just be finally feeling the improvements after 8 months of fairly regular cardio 3-ish times a week. For the record, my cardio is not overly intense and is 30-40 minutes.

    2. Pilates Leg Workouts – I have mixed up my Pilates practices a little of late out of necessity with the kids being home. I have been doing higher intensity shorter workouts with a broader focus. Some of those workouts have been focused on the legs. Check out the Leg Series workout below, its only 5 minutes, but a good one when you only have little bit of time.

    3. Bouncing on the Trampoline – If you remember, we got Bryce a trampoline for his birthday and I have been on there regularly, I mean someone needs to show the kids how to double-bounce a person.

Regardless of why my runs feel better, I really like it and I want it to continue. So, I’ll keep running, keep up my workouts and keep jumping!
