Do you ever let your mind wonder and think about what life would be like if everything went to plan. Well Jonas and I are are going through an exercise where we are trying to map out the next 1-5 years and we are forcing ourselves to let our minds wonder at what MOTIV could be.
As soon as we started, we immediately starting thinking about the destination, where we want to be in 5 years. Let me tell you, that place is amazing and life if good. We are bringing Pilates to the forefront of wellness, people are piling into Reformer classes, and my little business is turning into something special. I am travelling the world, speaking at conferences, I have a support team and an office (that isn’t the kitchen table)….life is exciting.
My thoughts then turned to frustration. I realized that the destination hasn’t changed for me much over the years, and I would have said something very similar 5 years ago and even 10+ years ago when I opened my first studio. Why is this 5 year plan different? What is different now? Well… EVERYTHING!
I think most of us are our biggest critic, at least I know I am. We are emotional beings and we have to live with the ups and downs of our emotions which are not always fair. I am not fair to myself more often than I like to admit. But this time, I needed to push those negative emotions aside and be real!. We’ve been working our tail off over the last 15 months planning and working on the business. We have invested a lot into the MOTIV video player and I am very happy about the recent improvements in the classes. There are a couple of more enhancements around the corner that are going to improve the classes even more. And the truth is, we wouldn’t have been able to make the progress we have if we were open. So I am thankful for that.
But surviving the pandemic is one thing, I am focused on thriving when it is over. We are in the middle of some strategic planning and I can’t remember being this energized and excited about the future of MOTIV. I can’t wait until we can get back into the studio and make sure I realize that 5 year plan.
So, I don’t have a good segway into this weeks video. When I started this blog entry I wanted to write was about the wonderful time I had a patio this week. We say at a tall table with bar stools which inspired my Barre video. I’m just a little excited about where we are headed and I wanted to share!
Looking forward to the next 5 years!
